2012 Civic Si

Hello everyone and thanks for the greetings already.

I recently traded in my 2003 7th gen Silver LX (manual) to the 2012 Si Coupe - Dyno Blue Pearl. All I can say is WOW!

Planned projects for this weekend:
Paint rotors red
Drop in a K&N
Resonator delete

Upcoming projects:
Interior Illumination Kit - Red
Paint or swap engine cover - Red
Window Tint

No pictures yet, but I will post some after I paint the rotors this weekend.

Wow. I feel like an idiot. Just realized I said paint the rotors and not the calipers.

If there is anybody dumb crazy adventurous enough to paint the rotors, please let everyone know how it turns out!

My air filter showed up today. So I did that and the resonator delete already. Sounds good and there does seem to be a better throttle response. On to the calipers Saturday morning!

Pictures as promised. Unfortunately, it has rained for three days street so it is a bit dirty.

In addition to the resonator delete and K&N drop-in, I took the dealer sticker and CIVIC off the rear. As much as I detest rear badging, I cannot bring my self to remove the Si. Speaking of the resonator delete, not sure how much I like the whirring sound while slowing down. Almost sounds like someone blowing over the top of a bottle. Except a bit higher pitched. Although, part of me thinks it gives a "performance" sound to it. The jury is still out, though. I also took off the splash guards.

I was also only able to do the front calipers as I was not able to find a good place to jack up the rear end. Suggestions?

right in front of the rear tire on the side frame there is a jack point. Pic below is actually a pic of the front jacked up, but it's the same location on the rear. Like 5 inches or so from your rear tire.

I found that one, but I want to get the whole rear up at once...

You'll need to use a jack stand as seen in the pic, and jack one side at the time high enough to get the j-stand under, then jack the other side.

What about a jack for trucks under the tow hook? I am not thrilled about the bite into the paint that tends to happen when jacking a vehicle up under the sides.

you shouldn't be hitting any paint on the side jack points... your jack should be entirely on the steel frame jack points? I know papy said he jacked his car up with a tow hook (because he was so low he couldn't get a jack under his car), but I don't know how stable the car is going to be with the car balancing on a single tow hook.

I looked under the sides last night and all I could see was paint and some of that rubber spray on the under body (which I know scrapes right off from experience with my wife's Insight).

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have to do a better job getting under there and see what I can find.

Well, I stand corrected. The last picture - piece that's sticking down - that looks to be the jack point. Do you have an undercoating on your car? Some others need to post pictures of their cars to compare. I guess I've not seen closeups like that...and I can't believe I can't find another pic of the frame rail in the DIY's, but I"m coming up empty.

It was not an option I asked nor paid for. I haven't been far enough under the car to really know. Definitely no complaints if there is. Will that thin piece of metal really support enough weight and not crush? I would still be concerned about paint damage and eventual rust. Ugh.

in your last pic - the piece that's the furthest to the left sticking down (that metal piece that goes out of the pic)... that piece is thin metal? Feel it with your hand. It's hard to tell from the pic, but that looks to be the solid piece you put the jack on. You'll know if you feel it... it's maybe 3/8-1/2" thick or so... and solid steel.
