So over the past few days I've been reading threads from here and 9thgencivic about adding in an aftermarket sub for my 13 Si with premium audio and nav.
I think I have everything down but I'm still having trouble understanding how to do it. I would like to keep the factory amp running everything but the sub. I'm on a budget of about $250 for an amp so I can't afford anything fancy that has balanced inputs like a JL(even though I'm running a JL W7 12 that I got used for 100 bucks), and one of the more informative threads on 9thgen relies on a balanced line driver that Rockford Fosgate doesn't make anymore. I'm not looking for an uber high-quality listening experience, I just want more bass in my car.
From what I've read, I should be able to go to the 24 pin connector on the factory amp and cut and splice in a speaker wire to RCA adapter to the SUB+ and SUB- wires and then run RCA cables directly back to the trunk. I would also tap into the 24 pin connector for the amp remote wire.
Am I missing anything? If so can someone explain to me what exactly what I need to do? Thanks
