It's A Fast Pig!
Just got back from an early dragon run. Great time. Hardly any cops except for one day but everyone knew and took it easy. We didn't spend a lot of time on the dragon itself though. They did have their first fatality of the year. A motorcycle was cutting corners and slammed into a focus ST.

We also saw at least two other bike wrecks and heard about a couple more. One that we saw the wreckage of, the guy had crossed the center line and hit the front of a Yukon that was towing 2 motorcycles. Also saw a guy who slid into the ditch. Looked ok but they were all standing around for quite a while.

I arrived on Sunday and the remnants of the Nissan Z meet was clearing out. Saw two 350z on flatbeds being towed out and some guy totalled his GT-R. He was fine but the passenger got airlifted out.

@k757 - Spartan is pretty quick in that big ol' legacy of his! hahahah.

That is crazy. I don't recall anything other than a tow truck trying to get one car out of a ditch on the side of the road on the way out on Sunday before even hitting the Dragon last year.

That's true. He did say he had an excellent teacher more than once. It definitely showed. His car also sounded so frickin awesome.

A lot of the nissan guys, from the skid marks, looked like they were trying to drift corners. It had rained so I don't know if that combined with the RWD and some possible inexperience led to the amount of crashes they had. I did see 2 other Z's leaving with obvious body damage but still driveable. It could have been from anything but it looked like there was recent contact with something.

The bikes were crashing left and right. We saw one girl dump her bike around a slow corner at a stop sign outside of Robbinsville. No idea what caused that. It was a 90 with no gravel, off camber pavement, or anything! She was already around the turn too and crashed on the straight part. Going slow im sure but still... wtf.... learn to ride at least a little.

Reading all of this is why we're having our event on a quiet weekend. I can't imagine how bad the Z weekend was, obviously all of the douches are buying up cheap 350Zs now and the rich douches are driving GTRs.

They had the official unveiling of the new Nismo 370z at the event. There were a lot of very nice looking older Z's that went. Pretty cool. We did spot an old 260z and a 510 wagon abandoned in the weeds behind a gas station we stopped at. Someone did ask if any of the cars were for sale. We got a very terse reply from the old woman working the counter of: "Did you see a for sale sign on them!?"

After last September when Keith and I had the entire place to ourselves, the early run was pretty a good example of when not to go. First thing I saw before I even got to the Dragon proper on my way from Knoxville was a medvac helo waiting for a car vs bike patient. This was before the fatality even happened.

I swear I saw that one leaving on a flatbed. It could have been a different car though. It was definitely a green/gray color scheme. The wrecked one on the flatbed looked like it had been wrapped though.

Seems like our attendance will be down slightly this year, I'm thinking a smaller group would be better.

I still get nightmares from 8ccdIV and V where there were like 60 cars and quite a few close moments.
