I think these guys are going too far. I had some support for their "antics" when they were just trying to make a point. Shutting down everyones stuff is not going to accomplish anything and get them targeted for a hard takedown. I know it would be difficult since they are so spread out and have been very good at not being caught so far.

cbs is currently online, but universal seems to currently be down.

Anon is now going after websites in Brazil. The Hacker News reports that websites of Brazil's federal district, the city of Tangara da Serra and popular Brazilian singer Paula Fernandes have been brought offline in a DDoS attack. Anonymous' message on the affected websites? "If Megaupload is down, you are down too."

Vivendi, a French media company involved in music, film, TV, video games, etc., has been brought down too. Vivendi used to own Universal.

Various Anonymous twitter feeds say stay tuned for the next round of attacks.

My understanding- currently going after the studios that may have had a copyright claim against megaupload. As for other mainstream sites, a way of getting their message to larger audiences I guess.

There are claims that megaupload didn't receive copyright take down notices from studios. If they did, the material was taken down. Then, the gov stepped in and made arrests/seized the domain etc...
