if you don't plan on using your stock wheels again, you can just have the shop swap those sensors into the new wheels. they don't need to be calibrated or anything for the new wheels, as long as the new setup runs the same about the same psi. from my experience, i believe the range is around 25-40psi. anything above or below that and you'll get warnings about tire pressure.

I'll probably end up doing this then, just a bummer that I'll have to unmount then remount these tires

TPMS ...... yet another reason to be in Canada .... what a pain in the butt ..... :( loving how wide those tires are. what is the size if you don't mind me asking?
They're 235/45/17 Toyo R1R's on a 17x8 setup. They've had one autocross session on them and they came from a friend, so I couldn't pass up the deal.

What's TPMS? :giggle:
I said the same thing when I saw something on Tire Rack about it...I've never owned anything this new. I was quickly reminded why I never tore apart new cars. Hopefully I can buy my friend's EF shell and toss my old GSR setup into it. If that happens, I'll leave my 9th gen alone...whatever that means :giggle:

hmmmmm nice.. they look alot wider than 235s tho.... and it seems 17" rims have alot more options for wider tires, without being too tall.... my 225/40r18s look tiny compared to your meaty treads... lol

Then they'd lose out on $50-100 to program.

another sad truth..... i do feel bad for you poor americans how you got that one forced on you... all stemming from those ford explorers with the bad firestone tires... and they werent over or under inflated, they were just flawed tires... im curious tho, does it always give an annoying warning if you dont have TPMS valve stems installed? or does it just not allow you to turn your vehicle stability off? i never ever turn my vehicle stability off anyways...

Believe me, I can't stand nanny systems like TPMS or stability control that can't be deactivated (Golf R....). Instead of having NHTSA make all this stuff standard and pass the cost to consumers, they should really just pump money into driver training. BUT....I digress.

quick update -- Installed road magnet springs. super easy install, especially the rears (took all of maybe 10 minutes to do). the fronts were easy as well, but taking apart the cowl is a little bit of a pain. of course, never do the fronts without a set of spring compressors.

and after --

Wheels to come. Also, I accidentally severed the wiring to what looks like the speed sensor. Now my VSA and ABS light is going off. I've since fixed the wiring issue, but the lights have not gone away. I've scanned it and no codes appeared. Will this correct itself after some driving? I've put about 10 miles at most since correcting the issue.

I was sent the wrong hub rings, so I didn't roll on them. Just mounted up one side to see what I was working with.

Just in case anyone was wondering -- stock wheel weight vs. an aftermarket setup.

Stock:

17x8 +35et RPF1 with a 235/40/17 Falken RT615k:

Better photos to come once everything is mounted up. So far, it clears lock to lock and doesn't sit past the fenders. Overall, I'm satisfied (aesthetically) with the combo.

washed and waxed for the season. took these in the middle of the day, not the best time for photos, but the A's aren't doing too hot so I had to get out of the house --
