Hello all, i have been lurking around the site for a few weeks since i got my car but never did actually post in here so here goes.

I work and live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am a Heavy equipment operator and have been driving a ford F-150 7700 series for the last bit but needless to say the gas mileage was killing me but as i need a truck to get in and out of some of my job sites i couldn't really get rid of it. and here is a pic of my gas sucking bass pounding pig of a truck

So my wife and i decided to go and purchase a new car, neither of us had ever had one before so we went and looked at a 2012 Civic Si, took it out for a test drive and wanted a comparison to another one so we also took out a 2012 Civic EX with the 5 speed. Needless to say my wife didn't like the seats in the EX and she didn't think that it was peppy enough for us, kept insisting that if we were going to get a new car we may as well get the car we liked so we decided then and there that we wanted to get a Si. So we went back in and talked with the salesman about the Si and mentioned to him that i really liked the look of the black Civic Si HFP that they had sitting in the showroom but couldn't justify the price they were asking for it, so we haggled a bit on the price of the Si and then he piped up and said that if we would take it today he would give us the HFP for almost the same price as the Si. Immediately my wife looked at me and said if i wanted it get it!.

Signed the papers and picked it up after the weekend so that they could do the fabric protection to it and paint protection and under coating.

I don't want to flood the forum with pics of it since they are already posted elsewhere in her but here is a side shot of it after we picked it up

There is only a limited number of these being sold in Canada at the dealers (400 total units) 200 black and 200 white. Our City received 2 black ones and 4 white ones, the black ones sold almost immediately as well as a pair of the white ones. I loved the Crystal Black Pearl in the showroom, but after having the car for a couple of weeks i almost wished that i had of gotten a white one. The black seems to get dirty sitting in my driveway, but it looks amazing when it is cleaned.

I think that this is the car that they had in mind when they created the 2012 Si, with the 18" wheels and the lowered stance and the firmer suspension.

Anyways guys glad to be here and am enjoying the site immensely. You have a great resource here with a ton of information

Welcome & Congrats!!

There are a few :canada: people here.

That's a nice upgrade!! Oh what does the 7700 mean for the F-150? We just call them Ford F-150's here.. Does the series mean like the trim? XL/XLT/ect?

When Ford came out with the Ford F-250 Super Duty the took the F-250 light duty and renamed it to the F-150 7700 series. Basically it is the F-150 cab with the suspension of a F-250.
Has the heavy duty front end ( so there are no modifications needed to install a plow)
heavy duty rear end
7 bolt wheels
3.73:1 Axles
7700 lb GVTW
5.4 Triton
In other words it's a half ton that rides like a tank with the over sprung suspension, that goes through a foot of wet sloppy clay like nothing and is a real pain in the a$$ to order parts for

Never too late to come back! The East Coast is a special part of Canada for sure, no where else quite like it :turbospin:

if i were to move back the only work i would likely be able to get would be at green gables or pumping gas in a Irving, There isn't too much call for heavy equipment operators there. If i thought i would be able to sustain my lifestyle there i would move back in a heart beat I love the maritime , miss driving on roads that have bends in them.
I would love to do a trip around the Cabot Trail in my HFP, wouldn't even mind the 60 hr drive to get there lol
