TOKYO (Reuters) -- Honda Motor Co. has scheduled June 16 as the new release date for its Fit Shuttle, the new station-wagon-like variant of its popular Fit subcompact that will be offered in both regular and hybrid versions, the Nikkei business daily reported today.
Production at the Suzuka factory in Mie Prefecture began in early May and has been ramped up enough to support the June 16 release date, the daily reported quoting unnamed company sources.
Actual deliveries are expected to begin in or after July, the paper said.
Honda is ready to resume the vehicle launch, albeit three months after its planned debut on March 18, but the earthquake and tsunami forced the company to postpone the release because of difficulty in procuring parts, the Nikkei said.
