$5.00/hour is normal for a waiter/waitress?
That's basically a 3rd World wage. Ya, there are tips, but still. If it's super quiet (bad weather etc.) someone could have to go to get ready, drive to work, and be at the restaurant for 3 hours before being told to go home and then drive back home for a lousy $15..............Shocking.

It may sound ridiculous, but its true. My little brother used to be a bus boy for Joe's Crab Shack and he started at $9/hr. Waiters/waitresses there makes $2/hr. Yes, $2. Servers at IHOP or Friendlys make $4 or $5 an hour.

Tips are not mandatory here. Most people tip 15% though.
