So, just found out I'll be deploying soon for nine months. My car will be stored outside for that time. What can I do to prevent or help minimize problems to the exterior for that long? A car cover or any special wax or anything of that sort. I'm trying to find a garage to park it in but that's most likely not going to happen. It will be in mid Kansas, so lots of snow, rain, wind, and sun.

A cover is the only thing that will protect it...... You'll want one with a liner meant to touch the car and not scuff it.

After coving the car use what ever is needed to keep the wind effect to a minimum. If nothing else you can buy a roll of "Duct" tape, and go all the way non stop to completely encircle your car(base of front windshield, and another at the base of the rear window).

Also you'll want to crack the windows, and get a cover that reflex's the heat.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking about the cover, I didn't think about tape or cracking the windows though.

Get a cover that fits very well. Wash it and wax it very very good before you put it away. The less contaminates on the paint when you put the cover on, the less chance of something getting ground into the paint while you're gone.

Take care of yourself while you're gone, and thanks.
