It's easier if the aftermarket wheel has a bigger center bore bc all you'll need is a hubcentric ring.

its cool
i know it should be interesting lol.

I've called 2 wheels shops one wanted 500 and another wanted 300 I still have a lot of places to call lol
And no machines shops want to touch them :/ liability

Seriously... there isn't going to be any safety issue at all. To machine all 4 wheels is a total of about 45 minutes to 1 hour tops. Set up the wheel without tire in a 3 jaw chuck, check with dial indicator. The bore and the the outside bead flange are going to be concentric, but it only takes a few seconds to check. Insert boring bar into the tool holder, cut the bore to just under finished size.... measure, set and take another cut.

8 mm is about 0.0024 over 5/16"... not much at all. A bit too much to try and hone out in the backyard with a 1/2" drill though.

Is there a college or university that has a machine shop close to you? Probably get them done there for nothing or next to nothing.

I believe it should extend 5mm over stock because its 8in wide. I found one shop today that would bore it for 50 a wheel. But I don't know why machine shops won't touch them. What Michael Hurd said seems pretty straight forward. I have to see my options because I think custom spacers will be more than 200 not considering the studs have to be replaced.

How far would it have to be machined out in order to clear the center of the hub?

Looks like someone painted the rear of the wheel with the dry spray and the visible run. Can you take a few macro pictures, like extreme close up of where the lettering is on the back of the pads? That looks suspiciously like a cast wheel to me, unless they have a gigantic press, ( many hundreds of tons ) to have those letters raised like that.

I would have to check, I don't have a caliper on me on the moment, but I will go outside and check my wheels ( steel winter wheel with no hubcap ) and give you a guesstimate. I can measure tomorrow at work.

The hub is basically flush with the thickness of my center plates on the steel wheel. The center plate is thicker than 1/8th, but just slightly thinner than 3/16" thick. If you bored the rear of the rim out 1/4" deep, that is more than deep enough. Remember to tell them to put a thin chamfer on the back as well.

Ill get those pictures and post them tomorrow. I thought these were forged bbs wheels made for the sti. Also why I the chamfer needed?

All wheels have a chamfer on the rear, it's to facilitate getting the rim started on the pilot, otherwise, you would have to be exact lining it up before pushing it on.

It's A Fast Pig!
It might be tight on the inside. If it rubs on the strut you can run a 3mm spacer on stock studs. Im not familiar with how much room you have on the inner side of the wheel to the strut. What size tire you thinking of running?
