Thanks Webby. Turns out they were aftermarket wheels with BMW center caps, but they are his summer wheels and they are for a newer 328i I think.

Yes and no. If you clean the wheels often you will only need soap and water to clean them...usually all I need to do is rinse them off with a pressure washer and they are good. Unlike most waxes and sealants which cannot hold up to the high temps wheels see, the Opti-Coat/Guard is permanent, and heat just speeds up the curing process.

That being said, people need to understand that brake dust turns acid when it gets wet, and all those tiny hot metal filings land on the surface and etch into it. So if you neglect to clean often, you will likely see some reduction in beading over time, but the coating is still there and doing it's job, the surface is simply filled with bonded surface contaminants.

I originally coated the wheels for the Prowler owners A5 last summer. He liked it so much that he came back in the fall for his winter wheels, then he wanted the Prowler ones done too (even though they are chrome), he also referred his friend above, and now he has another friend coming today.

It's not some kind of invisible forced field though, and I definitely don't like overselling anything, but it's the most durable thing for your paint and wheels I've seen/used to date and the only way it's coming off is through sanding or polishing.

Hey Rasky. I have a quick question. How does Tar-X compare to Stoner's Tarminator?

Very similar but it smells much better than Tarminator.

I also like that it's not aerosol but it may be a little more expensive per use.

It seems like the auto stores don't sell them. So I ordered 5 from Summitracing.com for $4.95 each. It's also $4.95 shipping for any number of items.

Just got a new toy for the shop and thought I post some pics! I still need to set it all up and get some 2" x 12" board to clear the lift with lower cars. No more sore lower back for me!
