The edges of the trail are some of the best places to ski.. you typically have some snow left and you're also getting some perspective by having trees to reference... versus in a place like whistler where there's often fog, you have zero visual reference as to where you are sometimes and that's not exactly fun.

Uhhhh.....that thing is doomed to fail. We already have that, it's called a snowmobile! Much safer than that top heavy thing. Pretty stupid idea if you ask me .

Bump. Anyone do any skiing/boarding lately?

Got some snowboarding in last weekend. Conditions are getting better as we're getting some natural snow. 40+ trails and 6 lifts open now. A lot of the smaller mountains in my area are slated to open up this weekend. I LOVE night skiing at some of the smaller mountains, so serene and peaceful.

From last weekend:

I'm actually going up to Mont Tremblant this weekend.. not a heck of a lot open yet, but it should still be fun to get out.

Awesome, I just checked out their website, looks like a great mountain. How is Mont Sainte Anne? My brother and I have been wanting to take a trip there for a while. It's about a 5 hour drive for us.

I'd opt for Le Massif over Mont Sainte Anne. Mont Sainte Anne is not bad, but Le Massif is probably my favourite mountain on the East coast.

Tremblant is not bad for east coast standards, but it can get very, very cold at times. I took some friends from KY there once and it was -45c with the windchill... no exaggeration. What they have going for them is variety and amount of trails. The glades can be great fun there as well as the few steep runs before they get turned into hard pack ice/mogul festivals.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check them all out. I've been meaning to do some skiing in Canada for a while now.

I ski at Mt Saint Anne quite a bit. I like it, but ya, le massif s better. Do both! :)

I think either Telluride or Jackson Hole will be my next vacation. I haven't even gone on my first, and I'm planning the next already. :rotfl:

Telluride actually looks quite similar to Whistler.

Here's the peak to creek for comparison... a bit slow but you get the idea:
