Hey this is a "just curious" thread, but has anyone else noticed how quiet the crossover into vtec is on the latest gen SI's? I had a 98 sohc vetc civic and an '01 integra gsr (damn I miss that car) and both of them were a lot more obvious with power-felt and the audible change in motor when switching over to vtec; what gives?

For those of you with SI's that have swapped the air intakes, does it become more noticeable after the swap?

look at the torque line on the 8th gen - on the left...

compare that to the torque line on the 9th below left

There isn't a big kick in vtec sound, because there isn't a major change in power (like the 8th). Plus, there isn't vtec on the exhaust cam.... just the intake cam on the 9th gen. There is a lot more useable torque down low on the 9th.

That makes sense; I didn't realize they took the exhaust cams out of play. So does the switch-over become more noticeable with a cold air intake?

and what IF we were to swap out the exhaust cam for an 8th gen exhaust cam? Are the heads the same?
