the media forum is actually tied into a plugin -

When new videos are saved into that ^ page above, it has an option for creating a thread about it for members to become aware inside the forum itself.
Editing has been resolved. A few alterations to users info below their avatar has also been done. Note - that area may be changing yet again in the coming months. It could be a temporary thing....

without getting real technical, ...there aren't many tools to stop users from abusing it currently. The next software patch will hopefully have some additional permissions.
