Does anyone have any advice on how to fix scratches in the plastic around the door of a sedan mine got scratched today on the surface and its bugging me

Like the interior door plastic - speaker area? Have you put any type of cleaner on it like an interior detailer product?

Heat it up with a blow dryer and while it's still hot rub it with a credit card(not a real credit card, but something similar).
Start with a light touch to see what that does, then heat it again and apply more pressure if needed.
Same with the heat start warm and try as section.

Did you paint over the scratches? If so it might effect how my idea works.

I know it looks like paint but its not what caused it was it had some crazy clear something on it that was sticky and wouldn't come off so I used a cleaner wax to try and clean it off when the unknown substance came off it left scratches in the plastic I then tried to polish it with some plastic restore that mothers makes but that just made it look like I painted it

Is this hard plastic or soft like rubber? If you dig your fingernail in does it leave a little impression?

It's a hard plastic but then again it did scratch so I guess it is kind of soft but not rubber

Hmm.... I don't think you can polish that part to get the scratches out... especially since using the cleaner wax and plastic restore left marring. Those are both pretty mild abrasives usually.

You could try a type of trim restorer that would bring out the "blackness" a bit more that might hide the scratches. If it's so soft that the other stuff scuffed it I don't know that any abrasive would be fine enough to remove them all.

Stuff to try if you want to buy something anyway:
Optimum Tire Shine.
It's a great tire dressing, doesn't sling black spatter all over your fenders, and you can use it on any black trim piece as well. It might work very well on that scuffed part. It's also especially good on the plastic cowl on the top of the hood near the wipers. That thing gets gray looking quick.

Or you can try Poorboys World Trim Restorer.
It's not as multi purpose as the optimum stuff but it's worth a try also. Works better on some parts than others. (I use this on my cowl piece. It works better than the tire shine on that particular part)

Thank you very much Nix that is great information. I don't know I may try something like you said. I'm just discussed about the whole thing. I'm just going to try and make it blend or i may just by a new piece and replace it
