2012 Civic Si Rev Hang - Software Update

doesn't he have toupdate the software? how does he do that prior to me being ther?

hmm im not really sure, i guess as long as their software is updated it should show up, i just know that honda didnt let them know theres an available update. when i went to ym dealer, he had no idea what i was talking about, said there are no bulletins, no news from honda, nothing, said he was gonna call the honda tech line and ask, but i think he completely forgot to call them, or so it seemed when i showed up for him to take a look at my car. but he was pretty nice and i gave him all i knew about the update and he said hed take a look at it. he plugged it in, confirmed there was an update, installed it and got paid for his services by the good old honda warranty =]

i'm hoping this works for me. he said on the phone "well there is no bulletin so its not a released update" i said "i doubt thats the case" ... "well forums dont always tell the truth" i said "neither do dealers, im not trying to be a pain, but please just look into it, thank you"

he wasn't lying.. they were not notified of any software updates. There is no bulletin, tsb, ..whatever. The only way they'll find it is by hooking the car up.

truth!

my dealership looked at me like i was crazy but i was able to give them all the info i knew on the update and i also lied and told them my cousin works for honda in a different state and he told me about the update. so they said theyll take a look especially since i only had like 1200 miles on it at the time so they were willing to just plug it in, and it took a few min and it was all done. i waited after that thought for like an hour because the service manager on duty told me he was trying to figure out how to bill honda and get his tech paid for it. but it was simple, free, and pretty quick for me. def worth it. did i mention free?

same here apex, just took mine in today, but i literally have a 2+ second rev hang when i clutch out of 2nd and 3rd gears... it's ridiculous... i took some videos, when my phone decides to actually upload them to my gmail i'll post so you guys can see, absolutely ridiculous but it's "up to date"

I took my Si in today. We test drove and the revs hung as usual. I showed the service writer some info I extracted from the forums; the test, the code, the SW update ending in 50. If it matters, it has 4500 miles on it. They reprogrammed it.

Action taken is verbatim from my service ticket: "Perform test on system. Found no codes in system. Perform reprogram on PCM to update software. Perform idle learn procedure to help with throttle sticking while shifting" Corey mentioned he found an issue or article or something like that in the Honda system about Si throttle/revs sticking while shifting in lower speed or shift ranges. I was a hurry and could drill down to get more information. Perhaps a forum Honda tech or someone who is buddies with a tech can get more info to share about something in "the system".

Results: Driving as I normally do it seems better. There is still a bit of hang but not as long and the rpm drops much faster. It could be my imagination, but my Si sounds like it has a bit more growl to it.

here is my youtube video of my rev hang. when i say "clutch" is when i depress the clutch so you can get an accurate estimate of the hang issue... i think it's pretty freaking aggravating... but it is "working as intended" according to the tech... i waited an hour and a half and he said nothing came back, that it's "up to date"... i'm wondering if he even plugged it in because he didn't seem too keen on what i was telling him to begin with...

hey im sorry to hear that, well this is gonna sound stupid, but either he lied to you or your car really is up to date? i mean those are basically the only two choices. BUT, i watched your video...your rev hang isnt that bad...its pretty similar to mine right now i think (after the update). although i cant be certain cause when i had rev hang it wasnt consistent and was much longer sometimes than other times. before i got the update i would say my rev hang was about minimum 2 times as bad as how it is in your video, and a maximum of 3-4 times as bad as what you showed in the video. it literally hung there for 4+ seconds some times.

My dealer says there is no update for my car since I bought it last October.... I hate this hang issue and asked them about it 2 days after I bought it.

yep... i'm having annoyance issues with it too, but i don't want to send my ECU out through a 3rd party to hondata... oh the decision i must make : (

I'm sitting at the dealership right now as mine has burned little over 2quarts oil at 3500miles. Plus the rev hang

How can I read what software is on mine. They say its up to date yet there was no change purchased car Oct 2011

I have a Bluetooth obd2 reader for my android phone is there a way to read that with that?

unfortunately, you cannot check the software yourself.

So purchased in Oct 2011 should require the update right? They say there is no update available

yes, dealerships in the US should have the update available.
