That's the issue I ran into... was it worth it to spend $5k on my car or trade it, while it was still relatively new, and put the money towards an Si? You end up around the same whp but get the better transmission, suspension, brakes, etc....
A k-swap is way expensive. You have to swap the trans, motor, ecu, install a clutch, clutch pedal, all the lines, and so on.... it's hard enough to try and convert from AT to MT. Trust me I researched this stuff for the past 4 years with my car. It was very frustrating. I did think the SC route didn't look too bad though since it can run very well on all stock stuff.
You have to get custom parts, even with the TSi kit. On the TSi kit, the Primary O2 sensor is in between the engine and turbo and while this works for stock, it WILL not work reliably for boost. The exhaust temps in that spot will burn that sensor out and cause heat soak to the sensor. You will need to move it after the turbo. That require a bung to be welded to the exhaust. While you are at it, the stock exhaust won't get you above 170 whp with a turbo. Buh.... I had so many notepad files.
The jackson racing supercharger kit is very much a bolt on deal. MT guys have the space to run the intercooler and jackson has said you can hit around 240 with their "race" setup. The AT does not leave enough room for the IC unless you can fab some custom piping.
Lol, save your money. Its way expensive compared to trading and buying. If you're dead set on it, once FP comes out you can reasonably run a turbo/Sc setup for $5k. I'm still possibly doing the SC..... probably just buying a new car though....
It's not necessarily the big parts that will cost you. It's all the small harnesses and connectors that will nickel and dime you to death.
Cost for power with less issues on this particular car. Also a much simpler install. Especially if you have a manual and can run the intercooler. If mine was not AT I would have already done this. Im just debating if the $4k is worth it at this point on my car or if I should just get something new.
$3995 kit comes with flashpro and a locked calibration for the kit with injectors. Once 9th gen FP is available this is a pretty decent route to take. It's what im considering.
Will it work with the US ECU? That would be awesome if it did. Same price as FP... I'd hate to be the $750 tester if it didn't work. Nice find though Pauly!
