Corpsing....pics to follow...

Nix, make sure you take a lot of pics. I can't wait to see your setup. I'm going to try to get you a pic of the house down the road this weekend. It's suppose to rain Mon., Wed, and maybe Thurs (10/27) which is trick or treat night. :( Been cold and windy. I hate bad weather around Halloween. I guess I'll try to setup some things Tues or Wed, then try to finish on Thurs.

I'll be making a chiller for my fog machine on Tues. May be this big b/c I can hide it with a few tombstones or I may make a smaller version. I have three fog machines so with the chiller I could cover the entire yard. :D

Wow those light displays are some serious programming. Very nice.

Yeah! Do it Dew! Build one! Fog chillers make such a nice effect!
To work better you need to change one thing from that video. Cut holes on opposite sides at top and bottom.
If you make a tall one in a trash can like that cut holes on opposite sides and blow the fog in from the top and then have a spiral of dryer vent ducting wrap around a few coils on the inside and dump out the bottom. Fill the center and sides with ice and it should create a convective airflow downwards pulling the fog towards the exit.

Ive used the standard silver aluminum dryer ducting. It works well and you can buy a reducer for the top so the small nozzle on the fogger can blow right into it instead of trying to aim it into a 4" opening. I don't recommend taping the fogger to the ducting because that nozzle gets HOT! You don't want a fire. Also a small air gap, 1"-ish, between the fogger and the reducer is good to let the fog vaporize/atomize a little better before it hits the ducting. If it doesn't you run the risk of collapsing the fog and having it form condensation inside the duct. A tight turn right where the fog enters can do the same thing. Run the entry point straight across the top of the can before you make the first turn.

I like to hide mine behind a bush or something and stack the fogger up on a chair with some bricks or wood block to get it to the right height for the "intake." Extend a section like KipKay did out the bottom so you can direct the fog where you want.

The effect looks great in a still garage but outside if there is wind it will just blow away from the exit and not cascade across the ground. It's an awesome effect but tricky in "real-life." You may have to move the chiller and fogger depending on wind patterns that night.

PS KipKay is pretty cool but the dude builds some wack laser rectifier circuits. I blew three cutting diodes!

Great info Nix!!! I just picked up some things at Wal-Mart. Going to Lowes and Dollar Tree stores tomorrow. :D

Instead of a trash can I picked up an 18gal black storage tub today, you think that will be ok???

It'll work great. Just dump the fog into the top on one side and out the bottom of the other. Id go longways diagonally. Like on the end that pic shows cut on the top left corner as "intake" and bottom right on the far end for "exhaust." There are ice chest cooler how to's out there where they just put a couple baffles in and fill it with ice. No ducting all the way through and just let the fog find its way through the ice to the exit. Here is a link to a really good, basic setup with a cooler. Same idea as your tub. They also mention the air gap between the fogger and intake to help with the convection current.

Almost done. These are 2 of 3. The one with the teeth is still too wet to bring out of the basement. These are 95% done. Still need some touchups here and there to be complete but close enough to be on display. Chillin on the porch of my apt.

The little guy. 33"

His face. Again.. some touchup work and final tearing of flesh to finish him....

eyes on.... still have to adjust the edges of the eye sockets so you dont see them, clean up the seam on the skull, some detail paint work, and open the mouth a little so you can see the teeth.

he's watching.... have to remove that seam on the chest also.....

and from the ground looking up.

almost forgot my new lantern I made. It sits on the table next to the big guy.

Nice Corpsing!!!:clapping:

I bought a huge pumpkin today that I'm going to use as a cauldron but before I add my dry ice etc. I'm going to put my 4 month old son in it and take a pic. :rotfl:

Check out all the chiller vids. Do you think using the flex duct will work better? Also, most talk about allowing the pipes internal temp to cool between bursts, so do you think it would be wise to add some small pieces of dry ice to the inside of the flex duct pipe?

I think it depends on the container you are using as to whether you use the ducting or not. I don't think you will need ice on the inside of the pipe. Most likely your fogger will cool down to much between bursts to overheat your chiller. Unless you have a large like 1500 watt or above fogger it will be hard to overload your chiller. I have an 800w chauvet semi-pro with a manually adjustable timer control and it takes breaks every so often.

With your chest I think an intake pipe to direct the fog in, an open mesh design cross pipe through the tub, and an exhaust pipe will work well and the rest of the space filled with standard ice cubes. Dry ice lasts longer but is expensive. The one thing that is hard to keep in mind is that you only need a few hours of operation unlike pro haunts that run for 8-12 hours at a time. Also the night and the darkness hides a lot of small mistakes.

The best resource for fog chillers used to be deathlord.net but they guy was so successful with his vortex chillers that he took down all the DIY's and started selling them! They are now a super professional fog chiller company.

I think with your tub the best design ive seen that works quite well is this sort of setup...

fill with ice from the top.
