Official Computer Talk Thread

Does your work have a way to dispose of the bad one?

 - I've never had to dispose of one since I've worked there... We have a spot for old UPS's so I guess I could put it in there. But my dad said he'd handle it.

That looks dangerous.
Yeah she didn't even realize it. Crazy to think that's on your lap.

It’s just a decent risk of fire once they expand like that

If it's anything like a mechanic shop with air bags you just detonate them an throw them out.

@webby - saw this today (not my employers IT rack)

Edit: at the bottom there is multiple patch panels and a switch down there!

I'm throwing out all my computer parts boxes. It's kind of hard to do this but I hate keeping useless stuff. I fit all my spare stuff in one box. I need to go through all my HDD and SSDs and get rid of some of them as well.

My kid started using my computer a lot lately. Maybe a reason to upgrade soon?

i feel shamed too, i have a bunch of boxes that i know should just get tossed

They come in handy if you tend to upgrade often so you can sell parts with the original boxes. I also have a lot less storage than I used to so I see the boxes more often.

anything i have that i would sell is so horribly outdated i dont think anyone wants it, and its not so outdated to be cool again yet

thats my issue. i figured if im going to sell anything now or in the future no one will care if it has the original packaging.

so am i the only one who thinks this "creator economy" is total BS anyway and maybe these people should get real jobs? so i dont really care that this subset is getting screwed?

The really crazy part is how no one noticed until somewhat recently that they weren't making money off of it while endorsing it. I think it took LTT or someone to notice what it was doing mechanically and then everyone else jumped on it.

I heard LTT knew about it... stopped their partnership with them BUT didn't call them out. :shady:

Also this was talked about 12 days ago since that's when this video was posted and I watched it.
