Official 'What did you do to your car today?' Thread

When I intend to wax my car, I'll wash with Dawn to strip everything off, then claybar really well. This ensures the surface is as clean as possible for the wax.

Machine polish for surface correction, then wax. Takes the better part of a day, or leave (in garage) overnight to polish/wax next day.

Yep, I mixed Dawn with the car soap. I even put a good concentrate of Dawn soap for the foam gun.

Gave it a good wash...while applying the spray wax found the biggest f***ing door ding on my rear right quarter panel... Messed my whole day up :(

I still park as far away from places as I can and take up 2 spots because I'm so afraid of A-holes dinging my baby! I feel for you.

Trust me I always do, it happened where I live. I live in an apartment complex where we have a private parking lot in the back to keep our cars off the street but its always packed. And by where I park some lady parks also (has no idea how to drive). She has a little hurricane sandy of a daughter that's 5 years old and always throws herself out the car like she's on crack. I'm almost positive it was her.

I liked your post because your car still looks great.

Sorry about the door-ding. Maybe you can take it to a paintless dent repair place. I've used them in the past, and if they say they can fix it, you'll be blown away at how cheap it will be to make it disappear. Doesn't cost anything to find out.

Thank you brother. Yeah Ill find something, I know about the heat gun+C02 bottle upside down trick but it doesnt work when the metal is actually creased/bent in, mine is =/. Ill try and get a pic of it today before the sun goes down.

Ya pdr guys can make it look alot better but if there is a crease they prob wont be able to get it completely out.

I detailed it. I started last night with the wash/clay. I finished with the polish and sealant.

I used tire shine for the sun bleached wiper cowl. :rotfl: I wonder how long they'll last.

love how the overlays came out man, and for the cowl take it off one day and repaint it. I plastidipped it on my dads old accord and all the black trims came out perfect.

Thanks man. Dupli-color has the black trim paint. I'll try that out.

Thanks. I used Meguiar's Synthetic Sealant 2.0. It's just as good as their Synthetic Wax, but lasts longer. It smells like bad medicine though. Lol.

I also had to wipe down some spots on the car when I took it outside. I needed some sunlight to see some hazing.

I also finally removed the rear "Civic" emblem. I used my sister's hair dryer, dental floss, and Stoner's tarminator to weaken/remove the adhesive.
