Got him in the net

Gave him some garlic bloodworms and his color came back

Came back to find him dead...half black...half blue and his mouth open.

I suggest when you or if you look for another get one over 3 inches. They are some of the most delicate fish in fresh water under 3". I wouldn't put his death on your care giving. Don't take it too hard on yourself.

Yeah, His body deemed to be developing kind of funny...like his underside was caved in. :( It just got worse as he got older. He didn't like being alone but everyone picked on him. He was such a docile fish and always came to greet me no matter what was going on. It was like having a puppy in the tank :( I was actually looking forward to putting him in the 29gal and having him to myself. I was going to pick up everything I needed this weekend because he was getting picked on :(

I've heard stories like that. I'm not used to such fragile fish. Most of ours are really hardy. Like those firemouth cichlids we had :pat:

I know of a breeder in Vegas that has all the varieties of Jack Dempseys (7) . They are often inbred for a quick profit. There are a lot of breeders who sell wholefish and don't actually work on strengthening the gene/bloodline.
The breeder I know actually does and breeds very healthy specimen of all the jds. If your ever interested let me know.

We paid $15 for him as far as I remember. Robert brought him home. When I went back I saw that basically all of his siblings were deformed in some way. One had a strange eye..another one looked like it had its forehead caved in, etc. The personality he had was great and would always come up to the tank wherever I was and just hang there. Not begging for food..just watching me calmly. I'll miss that. I'd love to get another EBJD...I'll have to talk to Mr about it when he gets home. I just love growing the fish up from tiny

So its official! I am selling half of my aquariums and buying one more. Since getting turbo my extra fish projects need to be ended. Plus I can redo my fishroom/mancave. I have decided to keep my Festae, Peacockbass, 40 breeder (2nd peacockbass), and the 65 column for a discus planted tank. I am getting rid of 2 29s, 3 75s, 1 40 breeder, 2 20 longs, 2 10gallons, 2 5 gallons, and all the fish that were housed in them. I am getting rid of my EBJDs as well.

The cling came with my tank. Robert almost threw it out earlier but I wouldn't let him. I had to play around with it for a bit. :rotfl:

the 29 gal now has a stand.
Next on the list is lights and a heater.

The LFS has 2 half inch baby EBJD's...soooo tempting :(

They'll be gone before they make it to 3" Those little guys don't stay there long. She said that's the smallest they've had them before. Their markings are gorgeous too :(
I want them so bad. Apparently they sell medicated fish eggs that you can feed them also. hmm WAY TOO CUTE! I miss my Eddie :(

I've gotta save the money to get the lights/heater before I can even think of adding anything to the tank. I think I'm ending up with the Rotkeil (Tobias) for a while

what happened to the dwarf puffer planted idea?

Mr keeps bringing random fish home that don't agree with the other fish....so it sounds like my tank is going to be a grow out tank for a while.
Callie (calico convict) will kill Toby. He's half the size of her and she keeps laying eggs on her own and gets very aggressive.
