Post up your fish tanks/aquariums!

My EBJD is spending a lot of time sitting on top of a rock and really lethargic. It's so difficult to get him to eat. I just don't know what to do anymore.
The gold severum and calico convict in the tank are doing great....
Any ideas Flippercon?
Try feeding Blanched peas. Get some peas (frozen or canned), boil some dechlorinated water and toss about 10 peas in the boiling water. Let them boil in the water for about 20-30 sec.
Next you will need to remove the the shell from the pea, just squeeze them out and place them on your serving dish and feed. The peas are a natural laxative and help blocked fish clear up. Try this out and do this every 2-3 weeks for EBJD. The garlic is a good thing as well. If your EBJD does not take bloodworms there is another problem. They should always take them......
The upgrade for Eddie is your best bet, He is the weakest link in your tank. EBJD are very passive fish and will easily be the bottom B*&t#h at under 3".

Thanks Flippercon! This morning Eddie was still looking for bloodworms at the bottom of the tank. I gave him some more bloodworms tonight for dinner. For a while there I've wondered if he'd make it, but after seeing him and bloodworms I think there is still some hope. I've not seen him this active in weeks.

About 3 weeks ago or so I added plants to the bedroom tank. The water sprite is growing like crazy and the sword seems to be doing well. We went out of town for 5 days and I swear to god my opaline gourami got even bigger. He's a meaty meat head now. All the fish seem happy and my skunk loach is now the scary monster under the rocks.

I'm thinking about doing a 29gal planted tank and getting a dwarf puffer. I for some reason REALLY want a dwarf puffer and have for a while. Petco has their $1/gal sale right now and the LFS has about 20 .5" dwarf puffers in stock. Sent me going crazy!

Am I crazy???
Should I? What kind of plants?

Planted tanks are awesome! I have never kept any of the puffers but I have seen many. Make sure you have the lights to support the plants. you choose. Start here http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/plants/beginners.php .

Why not just get a 40 breeder? I know petco honors tanks up to 55 gallons for the $1 per gallon sale.

Mine didn't want me getting a 55, hence the 40 breeder for a cichlid tank :unamused:

Yeah...you probably needed the 55gal. My puffer needs 5-10gal and he wants me to get a 29gal..I want the 40 (this is in case things don't work out with the puffer I have a useful tank)
I just want to take over the 55gal he has when he puts everything into the 110...but he says running them both will cost too much.

I'm doing research on good lighting, sand, plants, etc
Any recommendations are welcome

In planted tanks I prefer the smaller gravel vs sand. It seems to hold the plants down a lot easier. I use this stuff www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3746+4870&pcatid=4870 . As for starter plants you should look into Water Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis), Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides), Any of the Anubias, and swords. These plants are great for cover and reward the hobbyist with growth. Most aquarium stores carry these plants so finding them shouldn't be an issue. As for lighting you have to think about the depth of your tank. Fresh water plants prefer the red spectrum and in water the red gets filtered out the deeper it is. So if you choose plants that require a lot of light (high) go for the t5HO light fixtures or a fixture with a high enough PAR( Photosynthetically Active Radiation)rating. Once you get to higher lighting other things will come into play. Make a list of the plants you want to keep and then look up the lighting requirements for each plant. This way you can decide if getting a higher output light would be worth it or needed. Lighting in a planted aquarium is important so read up on it before you purchase your light.

The only problem is the Dwarf Puffers are scaleless and easily cut on things...so they think sand is best. Hubby has crushed coral.

I've definitely been researching. I don't think he wants me going for a t5HO though as it'll cost a ton to run. I want to play with something so bad..lmao

What are the small ones located at the front that look really grassy?

I will throw some common names out there. There are a lot of these forground plants. Microsword, stargrass, glosso, baby tears, and dwarf baby tears. These plants are the ones thy require the high lighting and Co2 for optimal growth.

Yeah, that sounds like a big project LOL. I don't think I want to get into Co2 just yet :rotfl:
