So I woke up this morning and got in the car and started it up. The Imid had a check tire pressure alert. It was 59f outside so I thought just cold weather. Then I remembered the nitrogen in the tires. So i checked all tires and the front drivers side tire was at 26psi. I drove to work and checked the tire for any nails or anything that could cause a leak. this is what I found.phpLOez0mPM.jpgSo I get a good look at it and its lock wire and super close to the sidewall. I was getting upset thinking I was going to have to buy 2 new tires.
So after work I am driving home and the alert on the Imid goes away along with the light on the dash. I thought well it must have inflated back up some how while getting on the interstate. So decide to go to the tire shop and have them see if they could patch it for me.
Got in the tire bay and watched the guy take the tire off (I was over his shoulder breathing down his neck). As we pulled the tire off the wheel the tpms is sitting in the bottom of the tire. We inspected the tire and there was no puncture through the tire. The picture above was not deep enough to go all the way through. So I have him put the tire back on and put the tpms back where it was (laying in the bottom of tire). Got to the stealership and told them that the check tire pressure alert came up on the dash/Imid. I also fibbed and said it came off an on repeatedly on the drive home and there (thinking they would check the tpms) They checked tire pressure and said I was on the threshold of the lower limits for the alert to come on and just filled my tires up.

Now I am puzzled on how to let them know its broken. If I tell them I took it to a shop they will think the shop broke it taking the tire off the wheel. I don'y know what to do. I can hear it falling on the inside of the wheel when i listen for it. Any suggestions??

I also like the idea of mentioning... "hey I was in here the other day for a TPMS light and now im getting a clunk from the wheel at low speeds."

(TPMS is stupid anyway)

Just say it broke,it's not like you took a sledge to it,they won't question it.

I think it would be cooler if they had a screen on the imid, that gave the tire pressure of each rim( identified) so you could be consistent, you know something like my youngest brothers cobalt sedan has that's 5 years old!!! With ours tpms comes on then it is a fkn guessing game which one!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I decided to call them today and tell them I took it to a tire shop since it was acting up after I left, and the noise got louder. Just going to explain the way I did in the original post and fight with them if I have to. I'm gonna go as a far as to have them check all 4 of them too. My car was built this month of last year and one tpms is bad, how are the other 3? I just hope they don't need a day or two to do it. I will have to end up re plastidipping the wheels too. This has become a head ache that I don't need. The noise is horrible too. Sounds like the cv axle is bad... I can get the car moving at 7mph and the noise is consistent. Fingers crossed that I don't have to deal with any BS. On a funny note, I pulled into the bay at the service center and everyone (I mean all of them) turned and looked because how Loud Layla was. I didn't even bother to reflash back to stock or anything. I just laughed when I got out the car.

This annoys the hell out of me. Easy enough from a programming standpoint. However, position would have to be updated with every rotation.

Just got off the phone with the stealership and I have to bring the car in after work. They are gonna replace my TPMS , but they are also gonna do a 134 point inspection. This will be fun. LOL

So I'm here at the stealership talking to my service advisor and the first thing he says is "we may not claim it under warranty since you had someone else take the tire off." I'm about to go postal on this dude. Anyone have a phone number to Honda of America? Gonna write these guys a really bad review if they give me any more ****. I have a copy of the magnason-moss warranty act in the passenger seat. This may be a long afternoon.

Ask them where in the warranty agreement that it states a Honda authorized dealership/service center has to do ALL service or maintenance to be covered. I would love to see the look on their face!

So I am going have to write a long letter to Honda of America. They denied my claim. They said the tpms sensor just didn't break by itself something had to cause it to break. I told them well what are the options. They said I pay for a new TPMS and they will replace it and program it for free. If I denied it they would put a regular valve stem in it and I would have a check tire pressure sensor light on all the time. I am so pissed right now, I could beat the bricks off this guy. I need all info to Honda of America if anyone has it.

Doesn't make a lot of business sense does it? If it was an engine, transmission or something that takes a lot of time and money to replace I can see them being sticky, but a TPMS? They're going to lose business over submitting a claim for a TPMS? Hardly seems worth it.

So I got to the stealership at 230ish and this is 2 hours later! phpr6KQ1aAM.jpg Caption this! 3 techs, service adviser, and the service adviser Manager. All for a TPMS in the driver side tire. I literally saw all techs in the service center gathered around Layla. I heard comments like "is that an adapter?" "I didn't know the RBC would fit!" "Damn, RDX injectors" "this thing needs to be lowered". I mean the TPMS sensor was $70 and they acted like I was asking for another K24! SMH!! There was one cool service tech who pulled my car up and said, "You car is sick bro, I would just get wheel spacers and drop it and leave it". I was so tempted in the service bay to just burnout through 1st and second while flipping them the bird.
Here is the Broke TPMS.
phpRS03HdAM.jpg . Now I just need everyone's help writing this letter to HONDA of America. I would like to just call them but don't have any info. I mean the money wasn't the point or the dash light. Just the simple fact they kept my car in the bay and looked clueless for 2 hours before doing anything. They said the claim could not be made because HOA would laugh at them and make them pay for it. So these guys decided to make me pay for it. I really would like to just burn the place down and never look back. If I have to drive hours away to purchase my next vehicle I will. Hall Honda of Virginia Beach is a joke. I bought a 20k car from them and this is the first claim in a year! All this for the STEALERSHIP to save $70 and have on pissed off customer.

Also here is another question I had. The service adviser said they couldn't replace it under warranty because it still works. From the pic above I think its broken. I explained this to him and he went on saying "its like if a rock hits your window and chips it" They will not warranty the work.... I understand the rock and windshield thing but a Sensor inside a tire that should be mounted is not the same story. I told him there was no little gnome or elf that went through my valve stem and broke it, neither did I or the tech who took the tire off. They still wouldn't claim it under warranty. He kept saying it still worked. So I asked him to put it back in the way it was , and he refused because it wouldn't be right...... So I am so confused on his last couple of statements. First it works but is broken, and then when I ask to put it back it wont work.... WTF. I want to pull my hair out at this point!!!

So if you have delt with HOA or can give me contact info I would greatly appreciate it. I will take a few days before I contact them ( catch more flies with honey then vinegar). Thanks for any and all input .

Oh and they checked my ecu and said they could not recognize what was on it. LOL. I told them it was Hondata Flash pro with a Tune. The service adviser gave me this look of surprise. I told him this is how they should of rolled off the lot. I also talked to one of the sales managers and told him about the problem I was having. He just about offerd me a job because of the condition my car was in. I told him no offense but I couldn't work for penny pinching bitches. His face was priceless!
