what all is being done to it right now?

Euro hard line went in today in about 2 hours[puke], no bending involved :smokin:

Then I'm putting my temp sensor sender in the TRM in-head adapter and guess what? The adapter isn't machined right. UGH. Now I need a new adapter (sourced m12x1.5-1/8 NPT from amazon) and a new sensor from Summit(local).

And the hose that connects the expansion tank to the hard line is still too close to my header loop. At least this time it's around 2" away. Going to order some 2000F thermoshield wrap, then put a sleeve by DEI or someone over the top to make sure nothing happens to it.

More headaches.

Said hose = top left. You can see the header loop underneath the loose wire harness connector.

Hard line in question goes from that hose, around the top of the head, under the head (you can see the p/n sticker under intake runner 3)

I deleted all the TB coolant hoses, and the open hole in the head is where the adapter was meant to go for my 1/8 NPT temp sensor.

After I get it back together I'm towing it to a fabricator to finish the header/exhaust connection. Then I drive and get vids. Can't wait to hear how it sounds. VERY few cars have this header setup, and it is VERY unique.

Anyway.. finals week = no car till the weekend. I'll report back when I have anything useful to add.

looks real nice. Take it for a spin?
Nope - next is having it towed to get the headers/exhaust connected.

Haven't driven it since 2/19

Bench welding didn't turn out too well. The above has to be fixed.

As long as I don't have the misfire I was experiencing after putting the headers in. I think the 02 sensors are just getting outside air as they are 2" from the end of the pipes and messing stuff up. It only misfires after 2-3mins of running.

But yes.

So it's a 6-2-1 style header? Unlike most BMWs I've seen where it's 6-2 and duals all the way back. So I imagine it will sound more like a VR6 than a BMW?

That is correct. It'll still sound like a BMW, just unique due to the equal length, stepped primaries.

All 6cyl bmw race cars run a single exhaust. Either 3" or 3.5" (built engines). Street and OEM tend to be dual from the cats header back.

Lots of arguments over the efficiency of small dual back, but the weight saving from 3" and cost is why I did it.
