'14 Si with 80k miles.. Shifting into 5th and 6th is getting harder

I dont think its me... Ive only had the car for 3 weeks now but I remember the shifts being very smooth until just recently. The car doesnt want to shift into 5th or 6th sometimes, and it just takes longer to get the car into those gears. Also the 1-2 shift is not nearly as smooth anymore.

Ive noticed the clutch pedal also squeaking but honestly I might just now be noticing it? Figured it might be worth mentioning.

This is not my first manual car, Ive driven manual cars for 17 years.

What could it be? Also I parked in the garage tonight and when I press my clutch pedal down I can shift 1-2-3-4 only. 5th is locked out... UNTIL I pull my parking brake, then I can shift 1-2-3-4-5-6 just fine.

Welcome to the site. I see the car is new to you from your post. Do you have any maintenance records from the previous owner or have any idea when the trans fluid was replaced last?

If you have no records on the trans fluid, I would suggest changing it out with fresh honda mtf. From a lot of test data/oil analysis the honda fluid is actually the one you want. You could also check the shift cables/shift fork to make sure there isn't anything broken.

The previous owner told me that he changed the fluid every 25k miles with Honda MTF.

I should be able to put some silicone grease on the clutch rod? at the firewall today to see if that makes any difference or makes the squeak go away.

I wasnt quite sure which was my Clutch Master Cylinder or my Brake fluid but both are full / where they are supposed to be. I assume the Clutch Master Cylinder is on the right and has the grey lid.

I had a miata lose the slave cylinder once and I dont think thats what is going on here.

looking into the engine bay from the front of the car, the clutch is on the right in the small reservoir/bottle by the firewall. Brake will be in the larger reservoir/bottle just to the left of the clutch on the firewall.

So I am not getting the sound theyre getting (thank God).

I actually think I fixed the issue. So I took silicone spray and sprayed the Clutch pedal rod/actuator in the cabin just above the pedal itself. It seemed fine but was still giving me issues later that day so another day went by and I sprayed it a lot more and worked the clutch right away and sprayed it again.

I waited till yesterday to determine if it was me or the car. I hiked for almost 4 miles and drove home with no problems, tired legs and all.

Problem solved I think, thanks for the help. I do appreciate learning about other possible issues I could come across. I much rather fix things on my end if I can.
