Replaced torsion bars with hood springs

I looked at using lift struts, but could not find them short enough for my liking, so I went this route.

Found a good spot on the trunk wall to mount

Used a brass bushing in the hinge bar

Drilled and mounted

Then cut carpet to complete, about a 45 min job

It allows you to remove the torsion bars and utilize stock speaker locations in the rear deck of the 9th gen coupe. Upgrading speakers/sub woofer.

I see now, it gives more clearance for the speakers

@welchdog32 do you still get the pop effect when you open the trunk?

The "pop" of the release of the latch is still there, but the trunk lid does not lift. It does not effect the way it works, trunk still opens normally, absolutely no adverse effects with this mod.

Does the trunk "slam" easily or is there some tension to slow it down?
