DIY ADExternal's 2012 Honda Civic Reverse Backup Camera DIY

Fully installed everything. Had a lot of trouble getting the connectors in the iMid module. Nothing works currently. We'll see if I can get it working next weekend...

Keep us updated on the progress, especially what went wrong. Ya, probably the connections in the Imid.

Read post #126 in this thread, I found the pins worked best in that position. Hopefully that helps but keep us updated

Hey 323, can you update the DIY first post under "After your iMid is removed, look at the 32Ppin ..... connector pin slow 14 18 19." near the end with the picture of Post #126 and "Picture Credits to @323"

AP moved my DIY from the other forums over here so I dont have Edit powers for this DIY.

So, I have been successful in getting the camera to function. Two problems I seem to be having difficulty with however.

First, I can only get the camera to function when I go into the diagnostic mode - menu+select>camera

Second, I cannot get the LEDs to function on the camera. Now, I thought maybe they were defective, so in my troubleshooting efforts, I hooked the original license plate light up and it also does not function. Strangely, I haven't noticed any other electrical issues to suggest it might be a fuse...can't imaging the license plate light has a dedicated fuse...

Anyway, any input or advice is much appreciated.

1) The reverse signal isnt connected I bet, check that first.

2) Check if you have lights inside your trunk and dome.

Are you sure that you connected all wires properly? ..... Especially the wires in the trunk. I find the pictures for that section a little unclear where wires are supposed to connect.

ADExternal Would it be possible to post up a new picture of the truck connections? Perhaps you could put arrows to indicate where each wire connects? Would really be appreciated. I will be doing the final steps of the install in 2 weeks when school is over. Thanks!

2) You might wanna see if you accidentally spliced into something or LED is turned the right way.

Turns out it was a blown fuse afterall. I failed to notice the tail lights were also not functioning. So, this has been resolved.

Currently working on the #14 connection in the iMid harness. Still unable to get the camera to function outside of the Camera Diag option from the iMid menu. Here are some photos of my connections...

Blimpcity I would try taking out and reconnecting pin #14, it seems like that one is to blame because the power and ground work (since the camera comes on manually) but it's not getting the signal that you're in reverse

Just like 323 said, as long as everything works fine. Than you just need to check your reverse signal cable/connections. Also, thank for sharing your progress Blimpcity.

Well, I completely replaced the #14 wire, and I can get the wire all the way into the harness. Once connected, I tugged a little on all three wires to make sure they're seated correctly - they seem to be. Camera still works in diag mode, but not in normal mode. Question: Is it possible that there is a fuse necessary for the reverse function? Or, could it be a problem at the shifter? This just seems really strange. I've gone over everything with a fine-toothed comb and cannot seem to find a solution.

Thanks for all of the help and the fantastic DIY...I would not have gotten this far on my own, that's for sure. Happy to post along progress as well...hopefully it helps others taking on this mod.

Wait, how does it turn on in the diag screen? Its only suppose to be on when there power to the reverse lights (both camera power and reverse signal). So if you are able to put it on without putting it in reverse than the wiring isnt right.
