Mother Of All Whore Threads Non-VIP Edition v.1

More patio cover progress. Roofline is going up. Needs a small adjustment to perfectly match the house roofline. Almost blends into house profile perfectly.

They’ll be dropping the peak by a few inches to make it work. It seems like a lot of work but none of the rafters are attached.

Fixed the alignment. View from the back corner of the yard for better perspective. Gray area is going to be patio space. Trenches (sprinkler lines) are the edging of the grass.511C6E82-7231-473B-BB4F-DFD60141D2B6.jpeg

Damn….that looks to be way overbuilt. Are the beams supposed to be exposed?

Which beams? The beams into the ground are pressure treated and poured into concrete. The other beams are fir. Everything will be stained and sealed when finished. A roof is going on because Seattle. Latest progress as of yesterday.

It's 10:12am and I'm ready for food....

Ate scrambled eggs, bacon and 1 piece of toast for breakfast but that was around 6am... Start work at 7am... probably eat my lunch at 11am... get off work at 3pm.. dinner not until 7pm. I'll need a snack in between lunch/dinner lol

My weekend was weird.

I slept a bunch.

Helped my neighbor get her grandkid unstuck from being pinned between a wall and a barn door.

I inherited a Sawed-Off Side-By-Side Shotgun.

Won a few matches in Super Mecha Champions.

Wild two days.

I was talking about all the 6x6 that are not pressure treated. Hell, the pressure treated 6x6 seem overkill also. I guess down here the build code is different with the lack of snow. I have seen such big beams being use in the roofing, but that is mainly for looks.

i would agree that its for looks. looks better than 4x4s.

That’s mainly for looks. We wanted a chunky look. So it is overbuilt. It’s 16’x12’ so some of it we could’ve gone with some 4x lumber but we wanted the bigger dimensional lumber otherwise it’d look “twiggy”. We also have it designed for a couple feet of wet snow on top since we get that for time to time (2019 we got a couple feet twice).

The pressure treated posts are going to get wrapped because they’re UGLY. That’ll add a some thickness to the vertical posts but add aesthetics.

How did said child get stuck?

How did said child get stuck?

The door was from a barn, but was repurposed to be a bedroom door, mechanism and all. It's on those above-door barn-tracks with the little wheel that it glides on. A toddler sees something like that, and immediately starts throwing the door left-to-right because its fun. Eventually, she gets pinched between the door and the nearby wall as it slides back. My neighbor ran over after trying for 20 minutes to lift the door herself; That thing was heavy! Her granddaughter had been caught in that door so long that she was too tired to cry anymore. Was glad to get the little one freed, but I sure wouldn't want one of those doors in my house.
