Official 'What did you do to your car today?' Thread

Thanks Ron! I don't know about that Honda-Fan lol I appreciate it. I just don't like paying an absurd price so if I can venture out and try my hand at something the worst thing that can come of it is a bit of knowledge that I did not have before hand. I'm only doing this because I cannot justify paying a ridiculous price I cannot afford and it is a new craft I can help others with. I'm planning on doing a lot more in the future, but I'm tied up with what I want to use right now as far as the material. One of the next big things I want to do is completely pull out my headliner and do that and also redo my armrests in the future, but I want to experiment with adding foam next time around, possibly 1/8th, but we will see. Thanks again man!

Also, I'm working on a custom air freshener with the 9th civic forum logo. Why not. lol

came out really good. prob feels better against your arm & elbow than the stock
It does, but it is still really hard. Need to add fresh cushion and it feels good knowing it is just new. Thank you webby!

Finished the logo, but probably won't do anything with it. lol Well here it is anyways.

You gotta explain this air freshener idea. I can’t wrap my head around the logo on it?

All right, all finished up with the driver side. I'll do the passenger side later on. I did not bother to epoxy any of the upper tabs back together. It is holding well enough and I did not feel the need to do it. This material is a pain more so than fabric so we will see if it stays pressed up against the plastic. Thoughts everyone?

Can you come out to Texas and do this on my car? That looks factory!

I was thinking of doing a simple elegant design with the 9th logo and gold border. I couldn't find a good website where I thought I would like the smell and that would have a good template. So I just ended up playing around with it and adding Christmas elements and what not.

Not going to lie, drilling out those plastics welds was a bit concerning at first, probably worse than actually wrapping it. I feel like the key with wrapping it is to be sure that you add quite a few slits in the material and not to oversaturate it and let it dry and do section by section. Thanks for the feedback! I wouldn't charge someone much to do this, I don't get why people price so high.

Yup... lol I got bored Webby, I picked up an SI cluster from the junkyard and decided to tear mine apart. However, hooking this cluster up to my car, it changed the mileage to 70,000 so that SI 13' had a short run!

Yeah, now I got both of them torn apart just labeling the Led's and looking for led replacements. Maybe make my own color coordination based on indicators and swap out the thin film from one cluster to the other since it shares the mileage data.

I already switched over the films, but I got a darn bounce on my speed dial and don't know why it is bouncing :pat:

All done, SI cluster works perfect and the dial no longer bounces. No issues once I had swapped films with my unit and everything reads and functions as normal. When in different gears in automatic the led lights are not visible and everything lines up otherwise. I also picked up some SI sun visors, was a real PITA to take off! I also got the black handle grips too.

So your mileage from here out is going to be from the si gauge cluster? How will you handle that if you’d ever decide to sell the car?

I got the plastic piece in front of the cup holders black and the plastic underneath my steering wheel. Honest thoughts? CEBD206D-9F26-4A13-86E8-B3CB58E653D6.jpeg4724D51B-15E8-40EB-9EE6-1A3E2922C330.jpeg

I prefer the dark over the beige/tan color :thumb:
Thank goodness you approve, now I can tell you I painted it with Dupli-Color interior trim paint. I was so skeptical and I still am, but these are good results and if you approve and it looks stock I must of done something right. I was to tackle the tan/beige that runs along the sides of the center console piece and then do the A Pillars.

Never would guess that was done with spray paint. Looks like a factory part from what I see.
Surprisingly enough from what I have seen around Youtube and reviews on the product there isn't much negativity surrounding it. All I had to do is just wash the product with Dawn dish soap and let it dry and then just a few coats. However, I don't know the longevity of it, but assuming it is interior paint, I don't think it will peel like plastic dip or regular paint. I'll likely be attempting to do my door panels as well.

Now they say you can paint your seats with this stuff, but that is going a bit too far for me.

Wow... that is an awesome transformation!

I wouldn't trust it on the seats either, to much wear and rubbing will start to fade the paint it seems like
