Post up your fish tanks/aquariums!

I'm dealing with a bunch of algae in my tank at the moment. The little bristlenose can't keep up with it. I've cleaned it off the walls...but I might have 2 or 3 different types at the moment (or maybe just one)

very micro-thin stringy stuff on the plants...BRIGHT green/blue web looking stuff on the crushed coral, rocks and driftwood (and a little on a couple plants)
Your gonna have to refresh my memory. What kind of bulbs do you have running and how long are they running each day?

I think they're on for 8hrs a day. The tank is getting a little window light in the morning though :\

I'm fine with the intake, but the return (would like to get away from the spray bar) is what I want to redo.

*edit* looks like Rena sell a jet nozzle.. hmm
I couldn't find any of my pictures from my archives but I did find a few online for you. Most of them can be purchased online , you will have better luck looking in the saltwater sections. Here are a few examples of DIY returns.

This is a very common mistake made in the hobby, I get this question a lot at my second job. In the normal day night cycle winter, spring, summer, and fall, the sun rises and sets. The light starts very moderate and increases during the day and then decreases. You need a set timer for your tank. Your lights are simulating basically high noon, So you are giving your tank 8 hours of high noon sun! Algae needs needs only few things to thrive Nitrates, Phosphates, water, and light. in the aquarium we need Nitrates and water to support life, phosphates and lights not so much. So by reducing your light schedule to 3-4 hours a day it should begin to cut back on the growth of the algae.
In a planted tank balance is key! You want your plants to out compete the algae for the nutrients. This is really tough to do since algae starves for these things more then your plants do.
I would start with cutting your lights back to around 3-4 hours and adding a timer so there is a consistent day night cycle. Large water changes help as well to knock back some of the access nutrients in your water column.

Thanks! They're on a timer but I messed it up a bit lol
I'm probably going to do a water change this evening and possibly try and gently rub some of the algae off the plants..and grab whatever I can.
I'm blocking one side of the tank that's taking in morning light also

got my pump for the 180. Apparently Sicce is one of the best return pumps on the market. My part time job just stocked them earlier in the week so I picked one up. Perfect timing.

Flippercon, what are your thoughts on this:

I was thinking that'd be a cheap LED setup - just stick it to the hood of my 110. Waterproof.. can double it up if I need more output..
That's enginuity for sure. I don't see a problem with it. I have seen others use the blue leds for the lunar mode. It reminds me of the led bubble wands and disks. Pretty neat if you ask me.

So I got the 180 set up and running. I have decided to add all my big boys to the tank.
For those of you looking into getting big tanks don't underestimate the weight of these things. I am super sore from moving it around and had to recruit at least 3 of my buddies to lift it.
The top the tank is just under 6 feet on the stand. Under neath is a 75 gallon sump. So far the fish in the tank are Jaws (peacock bass), a talapia buttikoferi (Ryu), a green terror (Nameless), and a synspilum (Rocky).

That's awesome! So glad I'm not the only one that names them LOL

Can you post more pics of the baby EBJDs? :D pweeeeeeeez
