Who is thinking about being the first full-race turbo owner?

the hondata reflash is a single tune. You need something like flashpro to come out to actually create a custom tune

^this. only thing i'm doing is a resonator delete + K&N filter (res deleted, filter should arrive tomorrow) and a full race 3" catback... waiting for their downpipe + flashpro down the road
decided to go with full race setup so as to be future proofed for their turbo kit if i ever decide to go with it in a couple of years : )
 
if i jump on this car, it's going sc...not gonna bother with turbos...too much work for someone who's not mechanically inclined.
 
If you aren't mechanically inclined I wouldn't do either, superchargers require just about as much maintenance as supercharger. Just stay NA with bolt ons.
 
^superchargers are cheaper to maintain...just change the oil...less chance of boost leaks, broken axles, broken exhaust manifolds, and a host of other things. If installed right, an sc can go a long ways.
 
edit: of course, you'll encounter problems anytime you try to squeeze more power out of a car, but from what I've seen on forums (where people usually only post with problems), the sc is more reliable.
 
I have a friend with a jackson racing supercharger on his RSX, nothing but problems with it and he wants to go to turbo now and ditch the supercharger. Chances of broken axles etc are the same with both supercharger and turbo, all depends on power level.

I do agree with the boost leak thing but on the other hand you don't have to worry about blowing a belt. With a properly installed and engineered turbo kit you can be just as reliable.

My point in the last post is just that if you aren't mechanically inclined you should leave your car NA. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from either way of going boost, they are both good options and in my opinion turbos have gotten a bad rep from people putting on cheap kits.
 
^I agree...the thing with the jackson kit is that it doesn't have the auto tensioner (at least not on the 8th), which made it a bit more problem prone. I agree with your advice about staying NA, but I don't mind spending a few bucks for a mechanic to look at my car. I like have a quick/fast (mid to high 12s) si versus buying some fast car out the gate.
 
Definitely, I'm going with the full race kit or maybe peice together my own kit in a couple years when my warranty is up. I'm in the same boat as far as the making my si mid to high 12s versus just buying a "fast" car. You get a sense of accomplishment.

i was thinking that, although the downpipe will be very soon, and if i do a turbo it won't be until the car is paid off and the warranty is up this time... so i'd get a good 4+ years out of the downpipe if i do as planned : )
 
How is a supercharger less maintenance than a turbocharger? You don't have to do anything to maintain a turbocharger, where as with a supercharger, if it has its own self-contained lubrication system, you have to change it. You maintain a turbocharged engine the same way someone that cares about their car would maintain their stock engine.

If the turbo and supercharger kits are similarly priced, the supercharger kit is going to be a complete waste of money. The EFR series turbo makes the supercharger a dead technology, especially if they keep using the same outdated superchargers. >$5k for 50 horsepower and 30lb/ft is a ******* ripoff.

I really hope this turbo kit comes out some time in the next few months, as I am already getting bored with the underpowered K24Z7. It really should've come with about another 30lb/ft and 50hp from the factory, even if they had to charge an extra $1500 or so for the car. It's frustrating when luxury sedans can leave you in the dust on the highway, and there's not enough power to pass people when you have a small window of opportunity to do so. If the supercharger kit was about half as much as it is, I'd go that route, but for they money they're asking, as long as Full Race can at least match it, i'll probably end up going with them.
 
it's a complete waste of $$ to you to some it's not... some people feel an iphone is a complete waste of $$, others swear by smart phones... supercharger vs turbo isn't about "max hp for the $$" since there is obviously zero way a blower can match a turbo in that sense, but they give COMPLETELY different power deliveries, and some people arent after the turbo thrust, they prefer the linear delivery of the blower, OBJECTIVE facts: turbo has higher hp, especially for the $$... SUBJECTIVE opinion: i prefer the smoother linear power delivery... that's all, and in the end i'm still not sure which i'd do... i had a supercharged k20 and a stg2+ wrx, and i preferred the blown k20 and wish i never sold it for the wrx
 
I think they are building a self-lubricating system for the si's supercharger...in other words, the sc will not require 30k oil change intervals...but, lets see what ct-engineering delivers before we speculate.
 
JAYBLS, like you said self lubricated & the oil only needs to be changed every 70k in the sc, other than that, the engine oil change intervals are pretty much same as stock vs a turbo set up the oil breaks down a lot faster, more frequent oil changes & lots of blow by.. And even if the Full-Race kit comes out to be the same amount as the CT kit, if this kit is anything like the previous gen kits, it won't include injectors or flashpro like the CT kit does (there's another grand).

Either way I like both, I dunno which route i'll go til there both out & most importantly which way i'll go when I has the monies.. :confused:
