2012 Civic Si Rev Hang - Software Update

i brought my civic si to the dealer to complete my test on oil consumption test which i pass in there standard. when i was leaving the dealer i notice a change but ignore it. after 24 hrs i notice my revving is different, i believed they update my software regarding the rev hang. its a total disappointment it feels like your driving a automatic car. the fun is gone, the aggressiveness on the gas pedal, clutch pedal and shifter was all gone. no more revving while clutching and shifting to attain the rpm u need. no more heel n toe while shifting and turn the car on a aggressive corner. it feels that it takes a long time to hit vtec!!!!??..........now i need to adjust to a new school of driving this civic si.......the bad part the service advisor did not inform me about the update it has and they about to do......wish me lock for the next level in braking-inn my 2012 honda civic si, as of now 4350miles......>>>>>>

Is there a certain date where cars manufactured after have this already installed?
I have noticed this a bit, and don't seem to mind it but if i'm going to have a better experience with the update i'm all for it

I can't wait to go back to my dealer and be shot down again...

Took mine into the dealer today and was told I already have the x0a050 software. Makes me wonder how bad the rev hang on the old software is because mines quite annoying. On a side note I also wanted the tech to check this transmission noise. Like a very faint grinding when cruising in any gear that goes away when the clutch is pressed in or its in neutral. So faint I didn't hear it until last night when I turned my radio off for the first time because I wanted to hear my engine. Tech said that was normal considering everything is still breaking in (car has 500 miles on it). He said if it gets worse or its still there after a few thousand more miles he would look into it. Oh well at least my concerns are documented.

My impression (from the Parts Dept) is that it's a fairly recent change to the control module. Still, if your car has control module part #37820-RXO-AO5, chances are high that you have the latest. But unless you just bought the car in the last few months that's unlikely. Personally, I get hooked up this coming Monday to see if the code pops. I believe that code is XOA050. I also have a personal meeting with the Honda regional supervisor for the West Coast, Barry, on the 21st. Or maybe he's just the janitor, I don't know.

Even if mine gets fixed I'd still like to learn (from Honda) how all you guys can get some help, especially before the big Dragonfest... so I'm on it!

Bulkybear sorry, ... look at the sticker on your door jam like below -

On the right hand side - see the "02/ '07" - that means it was manufactured in Feb of 2007. A dealer here may be able to give you the actual day. I can see if collegehills can tell you the day, but that sticker should give you the month/yr. Let us know

I work at a dealership so I have acces to update my car whenever and recently installed the new update on my '12 si and my rev-hang is almost totally gone and drives totally different. I must say I am very pleased with the update vs the other program that was on the ecu, my car drove like crap before and now it's actually enjoyable. Hopefully Hondata will put out a flashpro soon as I'm sure that will help a ton with the issues and make the car more fun. Btw if you live in Va pm me if you want to update your ecu, I may be able to make it a lot easier for you so you don't have to go through the back and forths with your dealer.

I cannot believe hearing about all the push back from all of the dealerships out there. To me if you have a concern about how your car is working the dealership should investigate it and do whatever they can to fix it. You also have the right to have the most up to date software on your car especially if Honda has created an update to rectify a known issue.
I would have a huge concern with any dealership who refuses to check into your request to have the software checked ESPECIALLY when everyone on this forum knows about the update from Honda. I would be calling Honda HO to escalate for sure.
I've already called Honda Canada to inquire about when the software is being released up here.
Don't just give up. :box:

Wow... I am so sorry to hear about your experience. You may be a perfect candidate for a Hondata reflash. But first let's get to the bottom of what Honda is doing - hopefully what happened to you is temporary. The ECU profile is determined by a wide variety of factors that are constantly in flux...so it may be a short term problem. Given that you have 4350 miles you probably bought the car early in 2012, right? So you might have had the original control module Honda used for this car, before the next two program changes to the ECU. Could you do us all a favor (??) -- post a video of your dashboard while going through the gears. Please and thank you!

I'll also post a video. It's very important that all of us irritated by RevHang (or now, the Honda solution) need to get on the same page.
