Hondata Releases 2012 Honda Civic Si ECU Reflash!!

Hi, I am new to the site but not to the Si. This is my third one and this will be the first that I will be doing any mods to. I just ordered the Hondata reflash only to find that Corsport wants me to print out a form to send in with my ECU. I have webtv (I realize I am a dinosaur) and no way to do that. Will they be able to send me a paper copy? Also, where is the ECU and how does it come out? Thank you for any input, Bill

The ECU is located on the driver's side, between the airbox and fusebox in the engine bay. Best pic I could find ...while a member was installing the injen intake. The blue sticker where you see "TA" - that is a HONDATA sticker on the ecu cover.

I've sent Hondata an email asking if they are going I release a Canadian version.

Did you try and enter your ECU # on there web. I thought someone from Canada got a reflash.

^gonna be a while...been trolling the full race thread and I get the impression of late fall. I think Hondata is waiting to see if the ED engines will replace the current Si's engine.
 
current reflash is for US models only. They have released versions for Canada on other models, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Maybe shoot them an email?

I just got a reply from Matt at Hondata and my ECU can be reflashed. My car is :canada:
I had to send him my ECU p/n and he sent me the linc to their website that gives the range my ECU part number false under. So I'm able to get it done. I'm just nervous about sending my ECU down especially since it has to cross the boarder.

interesting..i doubt honda will mess with the K24...its a solid engine, but only time will tell....

Here's the thing though: though the k24z7 is technically a new motor, the only difference between that and the k24z3 (the one on the tsx) is the ecu. The reason I bring that up is because the k24z3 is nearly 5 years old...it's time to be replaced. Newer, more efficient technology is available.

Of course, it might end up that the si sticks with this engine and then the Acura TLX gets the new ED engine, after which the new si (10th gen) will get a new motor as well. Personally, I would've preferred if Honda held off on the si until they had a motor that carried the technology that powers the new ED engines. I mean the 160hp si didn't come until 98, even though the civic that it was based off of came out in 95. This way the car would've had the most economical and powerful engine that Honda produces in that car as opposed to old school tech.

Oh wow, so i guess engine life spans are only about 5 yrs huh? I hope that they keep some performance in the new engines at least keep the Si trim alive. With honda trying to be more "green" per say. Since you mention the ECU difference, FP is out for the TSX but only until the 2010 models. Hopefully Hondata has some news in the coming months...
 
Engine life spans can be forever (look at what GM and Bentley do). But Im saying in a world where mpgs and efficiency matters, it should be revised. Look at it this way too: the k20 was revised more frequently and to a greater extent with every generation of the motor than this k24...this is the second generation of the k24z series and it only has a faster ecu...to record engine parameters more frequently.

When I decide to do it I'll speak to the local dealer and see what they say. I'm hopin they have some experience with shipping ECU's down to CA so I don't have any surprises. I've also gotta come up with a plan to be without the car while this all happens.
