I'm baaaack! '15 Si Sedan Version 2.2

i would turn the rear rotors.
any pictures of the sunroof with the seal off?

So I started messing with the brakes tonight since I need to take the rear rotors to have them resurfaced.

I noticed the rear pass side pads have more meat in them compared to the drivers side. I start taking everything apart(gonna help me paint stuff too) but turns out the guide pin boots have tiny holes on the pass side

I guess some crap got in there and semi seized up the pins.

The local Advance Auto said they have a set in stock. Gonna try and find enough for all 4 corners. Might as well since I’m in there already.

make sure you clean the holes for the pins well if they were contaminated.

Yeah, gonna give them a closer look once I actually work on them. All the new rotors and pads are supposed to come in today and I will get back the rear rotors this afternoon.

Annnnnddd….officially in the deep end, lol

I even sanded off all the crap that was on the calipers with a dremmel. Not the best paint job but will do.

I might just leave the fronts on the car and sand and paint while installed. Since I’m replacing the rotor and pads. We shall see….

It’ll look good and it’ll stop future rust from forming on them :popcornbig:

Brakes all done and like with any car “mod” something goes askew.

Pretty straight forward work but had one of the screws holding the rotor on the front pass side not wanting to come off. I didn’t get an impact screwdriver as all the screws came off by hand, other than this one. Put a torch to it and some ingenuity to get the rotors not to spin, then the screw came off.

Then the drivers side rotor didn’t want to come off since rust had built up around the hub-centric ring(I’m guessing but not sure what else it could have been). I couldn’t get my dremmel in there to shave it down for the mini sledge hammer came out. Completely f’ed up the old rotor but it was trash anyways.

Once it was off, then the new brembo rotor wouldn’t go on, like I’d imagined. Now I whipped out the dremmel and painted the fresh metal. You can see that black line in the pic below.

Other than those things and replacing the guide pin boots. Nothing too crazy in the end.

Looks great. I have one of those screws stripped out. It locked itself in there. Gonna have to be creative to get it out. Won’t need new rotors for a while unless one gets warped. :hiding:

Anyone know who makes this? Or what brand it might be?

It’s a quick disconnect type of thing? You just pull it down and can access the nut to remove the shift knob.

Also, I know the stock knob is a fake one. Might replace it at some point.

Saw this from a Facebook post….anything to worry about?

should be staked. just take the wheels off and do it with a flat head screw driver and a hammer.

So this past Friday I went to go run and errand but about 5 miles away from home the low oil light flashed on the I-mid real quick and then back to normal.

I pulled over and nothing was leaking and car was running fine. Checked the dipstick and it didn’t read anything on there. The maint minder showed 80% oil life(it was 90% when I got it).

So I changed the oil today just to be in the safe side.

The filter on there looks new but the oil does not. Prev owner said he had the oil changed recently. Not sure what to think. It was a carquest brand oil filter. Surely they didn’t re-use the oil?!?!? lol. Prev owner didn’t seem like the DIY work type of guy so a shop prob did the oil change.
