Slow but SERIOUS build thread

Pretty boring update, ordered Weathertech visors, I'm not a fan of visors on coupes except on em1's :drool: but I my boy has some on his 8th gen accord coupe and they look great and quality is superb!! Lol also ordered password:jdm reservoir tank covers
 
Yeah weathertech just released them for the 9th gen coupes not too long ago. I haven't seen a pic of them installed yet, I'll make sure to take a lot of pics so if anyone else on the forum is interested. I know someone else ordered them though, Idk who though. I forgot.
 
I really like them. Only issue I had when them is one of mine started to cut into the weather strip on the door that it sits on so I returned it and is under investigation.

How long ago was that? Hopefully the issue is fixed by now lol I just can't believe they asked $15 for shipping -_-.
 
2-3 weeks ago. The engineer just got back last week Friday so hes gonna work on it this week.

Just checked my oil at work lol, my service due reminder just came up with 15% oil left, I'm only at 5000 miles, my civic's vin doesn't fall under the ones that burn oil. Should I be worried or sounds ok? My oil level is fine right now on the dip stick though and its not that dirty.

Mine went off at 6310 miles. How hard do you drive the car? How many times a day are you starting the car? Especially after its cooled down in the winter. I really only drive mine back and forth to work. Probably only about 14 starts a week for me on average and all my trips will warm the car up to operating temperature.
 
I drive probably 20-30 miles on a work day, +/- on a day I'm off. I've driven pretty hard at times, out of stupidity lol.

I've seen a lot of the oil threads and read a bit on the bobistheoilguy forum, and I see people saying you can go a lot longer, but I like to change mine around 5-6k. I don't think it's unreasonable. As long as it's not low then you aren't burning or losing oil. The maintenance minder is more of an "idiot" light for people who would never change it if they didn't have a blinking reminder. It also helps keep track of when to change filters and stuff. It's not all bad.

I heard a great line that the light is for those same people who if they didn't have a gas gauge would be surprised when they run out of gas in the middle of the street because the car didn't tell them they needed it. You can't trust people to keep track of anything.

I change mine at 5-6k because my maintenance minder is still at like 30-40%. I went to 15% once, it was close to 8k and the oil was real dirty looking. To the point that the guy asked how long it had been cause it looked bad.

I put Amsoil in mine at 750 miles :hiding: and plan on changing it just before Tail of the Dragon and sending it in for analysis. It it will have been in for around 10.5 months and probably will have 7500-8000 miles on that interval. Keep in mind the suggested oil change interval is 12 months or 25000 miles. Whichever comes first.
 
If ur running the Honda oil I'd change it every 5k cuz it's not full synthetic. It's a mix. If u use any other 0w-20 then u can wait longer. I go when my car tells me cuz it's been right mostly n my car is in the oil burning vin range n used to burn more oil. Plus I drive at least 1500 miles every month.
 
My first was just before 6,000 miles and I drive pretty hard. I'm at 12,000 miles now. And I'm almost due for a change per my imid.
 
Oh yeah I use mobile1 synthetic now as well maybe that's why it's lasting longer...I really don't know what parameters the ecu uses to decide the life of the oil other than the rpms, time since last change and engine temps maybe.

The number of starts as well as hard/cold temp starts.
 
Summer's here, seems like its going to be a REALLY hot summer too here in Jersey. I'm gonna bump my oil up to 5w20 instead of 0w20, I should I be fine?

I cant say anything about the oil, but it does seem like we are leading to a hot summer here in jersey! :flame:
