Suspension help!

I thought my eibach prokits on Konis was the best setup for DD. Full soft setting on the Koni and it was very comfortable. I bet the H&Rs will be a similar feel. The Eibachs are almost the same rates as stock just a shorter wind to lower the car. The H&R a slight bit stiffer.

The neuspeeds I have on now are a little bumpy but I also have the struts turned up pretty hard. Spring rates are 218F & 448R. The ride is bone jarring but the roads are really bad here from the winters. I do have to say that aside from the uncomfortable ride I do like the handling much much better. It's very sharp and I finally feel like the car is slow since I can carry so much speed through turns. I should put them full soft so I get a better idea of what the spring actually feels like with a "stock" damper.

The "bumpstops" are basically an MCU elastomer stack. They are used in bicycle suspension all the time as a lightweight, long lasting, inexpensive, low/zero maintenance spring. No worries about riding on those unless they start to compromise travel. Follow the manufacturers recommendations as far as trimming.

I had a total brain fart about what you guys were talking about...

Here is a pic of some different durometer (hard/stiffness) and length MCU "bumpstops" people swap into their suspension to fine tune it.

Don't trim unless advised to by the spring mfg.

The problem is they do compromise travel. I don't think many people bother to check/pull dust boot off with load. In theory you have very little travel as is at stock. When you drop it an inch +,youre almost certainly sitting on them.
Now you really want them as your damper? Or do you want your damper to be the damper.

I will update when I cut.

I would suggest reading the subie threads I posted here: http://9thcivic.com/forum/threads/lets-talk-about-bump-stops-jounce-bumpers-0.8492/#post-209869

It would give you a good perspective on this issue. I would just go withe springs mentioned here. With some koni shocks. I assume you want the car lowered. I guess you can go with more linear springs.. But you will need to do.more research on those.

I would do some measurements though regardless so you getting good amount of travel.

I also don't want to rub either :/ right now I'm on 17x8 +33 with factory all seasons. In the future I plan on 235/40 KDW tires. Because as we know springs are static and if it fits now I also need it to fit later.

Tokico blues might be out at some point. They are a decent option for a better strut. Not as good as the koni but they are also less expensive and they don't require the same amount of modification. I believe the 8th gen Tokico was a bolt in job.

There are also new orange colored Konis out now called STR.T ? I think. I haven't seen them available for the 9th gen yet but if you're not planning on upgrading too soon I think you'll have a couple options in the near future.

Yellow, orange, or blue. hahaha.

Haha thanks. Yeah I plan on the struts in the future so I will weigh all of my options. As of now I'm deciding in either sprortline or H&R springs

Ya unfortunately not a whole lot of options on the 9th yet.:( I really hope they start releasing more suspension options soon.

after doing some measurements on my wheels gap i keep thinking that the sportlines are cutting it too close. people are reporting 2 inches in the front and im scared I might rub. the rear should clear fine however.

I've been on H&Rs for a while and the ride quality is great. My Koni yellows will be here tomorrow.

Im thinking I should get H&R but I don't want it to be an unnoticeable drop. FB2Chris how is your drop? Where you expecting more or less? The 235/40 tire I plan on running is 24.4in. Vs the factory 24.6in. I don't that to be a noticeable change in gap either

The drop rate the H&Rs give is exactly what I expected. My fenders sit at about the top of the tires. I'm running 17x7 wheels with a 205/50 tire (only because they came with the wheels with a decent amount of tread left). Once I switch wheels for the season I'll be getting 215/45s. Here's how my car sits (not the best picture to show a drop, but it's all I have for now):

i definitely like the drop of the sportlines. im just scared of bumps because i sit flush in the front with a minor stretch, as for the H&R ur 205/50 tire is 25.1 inches in diameter as opposed to the 24.6 i have from the factory so the gap is slightly closed but its hard to see with the shadow. if you would be about to get a better picture that would be great!
