The bombs that ripped through the crowd at the Boston Marathon, killing three people and wounding more than 170, were fashioned out of pressure cookers and packed with shards of metal, nails and ball bearings to inflict maximum carnage, a person briefed on the investigation said Tuesday.

Coming from a hispanic family, we use pressure cookers A LOT. And my mother has always told me stories when she was younger and cooking on one she left it cooking too long and TOO much pressure built up and send the cooker flying up through the ceiling of her kitchen back in Colombia and the beans she was cooking all over the walls. My grandmother suffered burns from it. Well long story short, food alone can make these pressure cookers into a weapon, explains how big of an explosion it caused yesterday at the Marathon. One can only imagine the stuff the guy used to make these things.
