I'm baaaack! '15 Si Sedan Version 2.2

Soooooo lots to digest here. I drained and measured the oil that was in the car. Had slightly below 3qts without dropping the filter. Put the oil back in the motor and happened to have another qt laying around so that got added. Dipstick now reads in between the dots and should be 4qts. Looks like I’ll be adding a qt a month.

Started looking around some more as the rear motor mount was a little wet. Had some brown-ish color liquid, similar to oil. Wiped that dry and will keep an eye on it. Above the motor mount is dry.

Looking beyond the motor mount I saw that there is a missing bolt on the oil pan. Again….dry around the area and no active leak. Yellow is the missing bolt….green is a normal pan bolt.

Looked around some more and see what looks to be some JB Weld on the side of the oil pan. I’m guessing somehow the pan got damaged and a cheap fix was done. This area is right above the subframe so no F-ing clue how the pan would have been damaged. No leak around that area either.
Area in between the red arrows is the JB Weld looking stuff. Hard to see but you can see the black color change from the silver pan.

Here are some other pics that show a clean block and the motor mount before I wiped it clean. You can see a black oil pan gasket which looks pretty fresh?

Always the used engine route. Get a newer one and hope for the best. My engine doesn't burn a noticeable amount of oil.

You sure thats jb weld? looks too perfect.
Its something like it.....hard to get a picture of it due to the subframe being in the way but you can see brush stokes or wiping it with a finger. Its not perfectly smooth.

Used enging would prob be a crap shoot anyways and would be expensinve to get a low mileage one and then add the cost to get someone to swap it in. Might go that route at somepoint or switch cars.....either of these two options would happen after the new house is done and a few months of getting settled in.

Honestly, if I was going through all that trouble, a swap would go into an EK shell.

I was hoping this 9thgen would eventually be my daily when I would be a place to get a project car or a nice weekend driver. Doesn't see to be that way.....It's not terrible, but it's not great either.

Replaced the wipers and cabin air filter today.

Am I missing some weather stripping on the hood? Drove through some rain and the engine bay is filthy now.

Pulled the plugs….some F ucking idiot put 2 seals on each coil pack. Plugs look like **** and all but #4 were oily all on the plug and threads.

Car feels better now that the coil packs only have one seal, lol.

Drove to buy new plugs and extra oil to keep in the car and the car is def a bit more peppy. Might return the plugs, lol

You sound like me with a beater car. If it's running good and the plugs look on run them.

Might have to buy Tesla wheels, lol

I believe I saw a set on marketplace for $1000 with tires

Finally got around to finish the CF overlay on the cheap plastic lip that came with the car. Had to match up 2 separate pieces of the CF cloth in the middle but managed to line up the weave pretty good but can still see a line where the 2 pieces meet.

Could be better but didn’t want to put a ton of time into it.

I was cleaning up the garage a bit and found some old stuff that will become new projects. Good to be a pack rat sometimes, lol

Found my old fog lamp retro from the last 9thgen sedan I had. One of the lights has the mounting tabs broken from being hit by a truck tire.

The other cheap fogs I believe were from my old Fiesta ST. Gonna put them on the Jeep.

The old mirror with homelink was in the old 9thgen sedan also. Will be handy for the new house and the multiple garage doors. The auto dim feature is also nice.
